Boat/Watercraft Insurance Requirements

Boat insurance is not required in the state of Washington, though if you have a loan your lender may require it. However, that relaxing day spent on the water can transition into a nightmare in the blink of an eye. This is why insurance is highly recommended. If you are involved in a boating accident or a passenger is injured, you may be held personally liable without insurance protection. Additionally, marinas may require proof of insurance for moorage.
